Medicine is the field of health and healing. It includes nurses, doctors, and various specialists. It covers the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of disease, medical research and many other aspects of health.
Medicine aims to promote and maintain health and well-being.
Conventional modern medicine is sometimes called allopathic medicine. This includes the use of medications or surgery, often supported by counseling and lifestyle measures.
Alternative and complementary types of medicine include acupuncture , homeopathy, phytotherapy, art therapy, traditional Chinese medicine, and many others.
Clinical Practice
A clinician is a health care professional who works directly with patients in a hospital or other health care setting. Nurses, doctors, psychotherapists, and other professionals are all clinicians.
Not all medical professionals are clinicians. Researchers and laboratory workers are not clinicians because they do not work with patients.
A physician evaluates an individual for the purpose of diagnosing, treating, and preventing disease using knowledge gained through education, research, and experience, as well as clinical judgment.
Biomedical Research.
This field of science looks for ways to prevent and treat diseases that lead to illness or death. Biomedical scientists use biotechnology techniques to study biological processes and diseases. They seek to develop successful treatments and cures.
Biomedical research requires careful experimentation, development, and evaluation. It involves biologists, chemists, physicians, pharmacologists, and others.
Drugs
This field deals with drugs or medications and how they are used.
Physicians and other health professionals use drugs to diagnose, treat, cure, and prevent disease.
Surgery
Surgical procedures are necessary to diagnose and treat certain types of diseases, malformations, and injuries. They use instrumental and manual aids rather than drugs.
A surgeon may perform a surgical procedure to remove or replace diseased tissue or an organ, or they may use surgery to remove tissue for a biopsy. Sometimes they will remove unwanted tissue and then send it for diagnosis.
Medical equipment
Medical professionals use a wide range of instruments to diagnose and treat diseases or other conditions, prevent symptoms from worsening, replace a damaged part, such as a hip or knee, and so on.
